When a dear friend has a baby, you can’t help but celebrate it with as much excitement as if it were your own baby!

There are some people in this world that change your life for the better. Shaina and Jason are two of those people. They radiate happiness, adventure, love, and kindness and their virtues and values are stronger than anything.  I have been blessed to call them my friends for many years now. Last year, I cried happy tears when Shaina told me they were expecting as I couldn’t imagine two people who were more ready to become parents. As you will see below, I had the joy of capturing their baby announcement photos last fall. They have a wild sense of humor and I couldn’t think of a better announcement concept than these clever mugs that Shaina created! Hill Annoucement-5586Hill Annoucement-5538Hill Annoucement-5531-2Hill Annoucement-5325Hill Annoucement-5444-2Hill Annoucement-5380-2As fall ended we fell into the long winter and we all waited and prayed for the safe arrival of sweet Baby Bison in the spring. Baby Bison is the adorable nickname Shaina and Jason referred to their baby as during pregnancy and you will see why when you see the amazing nursery they created for him. I counted down the day’s until my dear friend’s due date like a small child waiting for Christmas and then finally in the middle of April, baby Silas was born! As you scroll through these dreamy pictures of the new perfectly complete family, please note the INCREDIBLE Bison mural featured in Sila’s nursery which was handpainted by Shaina’s talented brother, Zak Parsons.

Now to the moment we have all been waiting for, photos of the sweetest new arrival, Silas.Baby Silas-1613

Merry Christmas, you wonderful old Building and Loan!

How are there only 4 more days until Christmas?!

It is hard to believe that at this time last year I was 6 months pregnant and now (fast-forwarding to this year) I have a 9 month old baby! Bryan and I are so excited for Lucy’s first Christmas! We are looking forward to spending time with our family, all of the delicious holiday meals, and even though Lucy doesn’t understand much this year – she is just the perfect age to be showing interest in toys. It also doesn’t hurt that we will be off work through the new year, which will mean so much more time with our sweet girl.

I must admit, the past two years I have been a slacker on decorating for Christmas. Last year we set up only the tree (no decorations), and two years ago we didn’t even put up the tree. It’s not even that I was a Grinch about it all, per se, I just ran out of the time and energy. I know, I know, no excuses! This year and hopefully every year going forward, I knew the slacking had to stop and I finally decorated the house for Christmas again. It’s a Wonderful Life is not JUST my favorite Christmas movie, but my favorite movie movie, and it played as inspiration for part of my Christmas decorating this year. I also had the cutest little photo subjects to snap some photos of in front of our tree, enjoy!

A GLOWING mommy-to-be awaiting the arrival of her sweet, sweet, baby!

When I was pregnant I was very hesitant on getting maternity photos taken. Luckily, my friend Tammy offered to take some for me and now in hindsight I couldn’t be happier to have her beautiful photos to reflect back on that very special time. A few months after Lucy was born, Tammy announced she was expecting a little sweetie pie of her own and I was absolutely over-the-moon thrilled to hear this news! This time, it was my turn to offer to capture HER special maternity moments. The Corduroy book that you see pictured was significant to her as it was given to her by her husband on their first wedding anniversary (aka the paper anniversary). Please enjoy these photos of this gorgeous mommy-to-be!

Our Little Pumpkin

‘Tis the season, fa la la la, FALL!

Bring on the perfect weather, pumpkin spice everything, and autumnal decor. As you can see below, the house is slowly but surely making its way to the orange spectrum. Even Rooney is getting into the spirit with his pumpkin sweater!

It’s hard to believe that this time last year, I was sporting a little pumpkin growing in my belly, and this year that little pumpkin is sitting up all on her own and calling me Mama! Another perk of fall is the constant reminder to stop and think about what you are thankful for, and this year my thankful meter is going off through the roof! Lucy is our absolute JOY and I hope these sweet little pumpkin pictures below bring you some joy as well! Happy fall, ya’ll!

Artist Spotlight: Eric Bach “Fish and Chips”

One of the greatest aspects of college was being able to work alongside talented classmates and learn from each other through group projects and critiques.

I went to college with some REALLY talented designers.

Studying Visual Communication Design at Stevenson University provided a wonderful academic experience. I not only learned the techniques and fundamentals of graphic design, but also took a broad range of communication and multimedia classes (photography, videography, film, web design, and fine art) which expanded on the design program. One of the greatest aspects of college was being able to work alongside talented classmates and learn from each other through group projects and critiques. One classmate’s art in particular has stood out to me not only while in college, but since graduating.

Eric Bach and I have kept in contact through social media over the years. His cute wedding photos, adorable puppy, and music (he sings and plays guitar too!) have popped up in my feed along with several pieces of artwork that he has done since our Stevenson days. One fine art series in particular, has stood out to me most. The series consists of very intricate circular fish drawings that use negative space to create what I will call a puzzle of fish. Check out Eric’s behance portfolio which feautres his fish series and other projects by clicking here: Eric’s Portfolio.

If you don’t know the back story, Bryan and I have had nicknames for each other of “fish” & “feesh” since we met (I’m not 100% sure where it came from, but I’m guessing the movie Big Fish played a role). When I saw Eric’s fish art I was instantly drawn to it. I reached out to him on a whim to ask about buying a print of a piece that I had seen on his page. To my surprise, he was not only willing to sell the print, but he offered to do a custom piece especially for us. I was extremely excited about this and I told him that I would LOVE that! I didn’t give him much direction to go off of, but I did mention that Bryan and I are a wee bit obsessed with the British culture and that our wedding had an overall British theme so maybe there could be a fish with a crown or something thrown in there. Eric let me know he had finished the piece but it was going to be a surprise, so I eagerly awaited it to come in the mail and didn’t see it until the day it arrived to my front door.

And then it came…

The piece COMPLETELY EXCEEDED any thought/idea I had at what it might look like! I gave this piece to Bryan for our upcoming 2 year anniversary. It is truly something that we will cherish forever and display proudly in our home. Honestly, it’s the coolest piece of art I have ever owned. Last weekend, I hung it in our newly painted bathroom which was in desperate need of some artwork. The reds and the blues of the Union Jack design really complemented our new navy paint. I framed the print with a custom handmade frame that was made for me by Jim at Bardwood4U. Please check out these photos below and marvel at the hand drawn perfection and intricacy of Eric’s piece, “Fish and Chips”.

Playing Photographer: Vintage Spring Bridal Shower

Capturing events through photography and videography has always been something that I have had love for. I can attribute that to my dad, who’s passion for capturing all of our life moments growing up introduced me to the camera and video camera in the first place. It wasn’t until I attended design school and started my first job that I was able to appreciate the true art of photography and learn to take the time to capture an image that I was proud of. I still have a long way to go in the photography world, but love to use family events and gatherings to practice enhancing my technique.

This past weekend my step-sister Theresa was surprised with a bridal shower that was styled and planned with such craft and beauty by her mother and bridesmaids. The bridal shower had a vintage theme, with beautiful spring floral touches. Delicate lace, light coral and ivory flowers, and homemade chalkboard signage created an exquisitely delicate brunch atmosphere. The overall feel and look of the event was perfectly matched to the bride-to-be’s style and I was so honored to attend such a wonderful bridal shower. I can’t take any credit for the amazing decor, delicious food, or creative crafty touches that Theresa’s bridesmaids and mother put together – but I did want to share some of the photos I took that showcase their beautiful work. My photo gallery starts with a picture of the stunning bride-to-be. Wishing Theresa and Graham a life of happiness and love.
